The first tea garden on the “tributary” tour was Purple Bamboo.
The tea grows wild under the shade of bamboo trees at an altitude of about 600 meters in Zhejiang Province. Purple Bamboo has a slight violet hue, which is believed to be due to the rich mineral and iron deposits in the clay and rocky mountainous area.
This tea dates back to Lu Yu, who is considered the saint of tea. Lu Yu wrote the book “Cha Jing,” which describes how to cultivate and produce tea, and many of these methods are still used today. Yu Le started the very first “Tribut” tea garden for the emperor in the year 700.
