Yixing Teapot

Just an hour’s drive to Jiangsu Province is the famous area for a special purple clay known as Yixing or zisha. This clay is used to make the most sought-after teapots in China.

These traditional gongfu teapots are hand-shaped and not thrown like most teapots. Due to its unique clay, the pot is very slow to dissipate heat, making it better for brewing tea. Yixing pots are used for high-quality teas.

Because of the porous clay, Yixing teapots are more durable and rarely crack. They are easy to maintain and can last for many years with proper care. The pots improve with age and use. An older, well-maintained teapot increases in value and is often sought after by collectors and enthusiasts.

Our teapots are made by a nationally recognized artist.

Several of these teapots can be seen or purchased at Simply Tea.
